PM Kobakhidze: Georgia’s economy grew by about 8% in first five months of 2026

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has said the country's economy grew by approximately 8% in the first five months of 2026, amid a “significant increase” in overall economic activity.

Speaking at a briefing at the Government Administration, Kobakhidze said “strong economic growth” had also contributed to increased trade turnover.

"Overall economic activity has increased significantly. The economic growth rate is also very high. We have data for the first five months, and growth is approximately 8%. All of this is also contributing to increased trade turnover figures," Kobakhidze said.

The prime minister said maintaining a high rate of economic growth remained one of the government's main priorities.

"Our top priority is to maintain the pace of economic growth, to maintain a high growth rate, and the Georgian government is working to the maximum extent and sparing no effort in this regard," he added.
