Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Tuesday emphasised the government’s dedication to supporting displaced persons as 720 families were handed new apartments in Kutaisi, western Georgia. Speaking at the handover ceremony, he said the project reflected a broader shift in policy since 2012, placing citizens’ dignity and well-being at the centre of government action.
Kobakhidze recalled “past neglect” towards displaced people and outlined reforms, including new laws and criteria for fair resettlement. He also highlighted ongoing housing projects across five cities, with a total budget of 6 million GEL, and the “Rural House” programme, which has enabled 12,000 families to acquire homes with land.
“This is another expression of our commitment to providing dignified housing for displaced families,” the Prime Minister said.
