Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has warned that the country will not permit a foreign-financed revolution, pointing to Ukraine’s 2014 Maidan protests which he said left the state “collapsed” and at war.

Kobakhidze told journalists that protests in Georgia were being supported by “foreign intelligence services” and drew parallels with Ukraine’s trajectory after Maidan.

“You remember that intelligence agencies funded the Maidan, and you also remember what followed for Ukraine – the state collapsed and endured two wars,” he said. “We will not allow this scenario here. There is no resource for it in Georgia.”

The prime minister added that his government had “all the resources” to stop such attempts and stressed the need to expose what he described as outside funding and interference.
