Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Wednesday said the large-scale development project to be implemented in the country by Eagle Hills, a major UAE-based development company, would make an “unprecedented contribution” to further stimulating the country’s economy.
Speaking to Georgian journalists in China, Kobakhidze highlighted the project’s significance for Georgia’s long-term development goals, noting ongoing progress in reducing poverty and raising living standards.
“The project to be implemented by Eagle Hills in our country will make an unprecedented contribution to further stimulating our economy. This is essential for Georgia to achieve the appropriate level of development. Poverty has decreased from 30 percent to 9.4 percent and for the first time, our per capita GDP will surpass $10,000 this year, with the total economy exceeding ₾100 billion ($36.77bln)”, he said.
Kobakhidze stressed that the Government would ensure all major investment projects were carried out smoothly and in line with national interests.
“The state is at a high level of readiness today [...] The Eagle Hills project is one of those exceptional and outstanding projects that will be fully protected by the state” the Prime Minister added.
