Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday said there is a “competence crisis in European bureaucracy”, commenting on a video from the European Parliament in which several MEPs were unable to correctly answer a journalist’s question about the location of Iran on a map.
Speaking to journalists, the Prime Minister said the situation in European institutions reflects both a lack of competence and a deficit of integrity.
“When we talk about the extremely difficult situation in European bureaucracy, it is reflected, among other things, in competence, as well as in a deficit of good faith,” Kobakhidze said.
He added if a similar survey were conducted in the European Parliament regarding Georgia, the results would likely be similar.
“If the same survey were conducted in the European Parliament about Georgia, you would get the same result, while at the same time you see that 500 out of 600 MEPs often vote against the Georgian people and the Georgian state,” he said.
Kobakhidze added that the video survey demonstrates the problems he says exist within European institutions.
