Georgia aims to be in world’s top three least corrupt countries, PM claims

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced an ambitious goal for Georgia to rank among the top three least corrupt countries in the world. Speaking to Georgian journalists in Dubai, Kobakhidze emphasized that achieving this goal requires strong political will and well-implemented policies.

He highlighted the significant progress Georgia has made in reducing corruption, stating that recent international rankings do not fully reflect the improvements made over the past year. According to the Prime Minister, the government has taken numerous concrete steps to ensure greater transparency and accountability.

“We have a leading position in fighting corruption, but I believe that even current assessments do not fully capture the progress Georgia has made in the past year. We have actively worked on this issue, and many specific measures have been taken to reduce corruption. Our goal is to secure a place among the top three least corrupt countries globally, and we have the political will to achieve this. The rest depends on the right policies,” Kobakhidze stated.

He noted that all government decisions and legal acts are fully transparent, with thousands of official documents publicly accessible on government websites. He urged all public institutions to follow the government’s example by being proactive and transparent, which he believes will further reduce corruption in the country.

“This is one of the most important national priorities for both the government and Georgia as a whole,” Kobakhidze concluded.
