Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze expressed hope the upcoming meeting between US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will ultimately result in peace.

“We hope these negotiations will ultimately lead to the establishment of peace. I wish peace for Ukraine and for the entire European continent,” Kobakhidze told domestic media following the opening ceremony of the Surami bypass road.

He emphasized that violations of peace have brought severe consequences to the wider region, particularly Europe, affecting both political and economic stability.

“For us, the priority is to establish peace in our region. The disruption of peace has caused very serious consequences, especially for the European continent [...] For Ukraine and the Ukrainian people, establishing peace is of primary importance. We hope these negotiations will ultimately lead to peace,” Kobakhidze added.

The meeting between Trump and Putin is scheduled for this evening. Trump described the summit as preparatory in nature, noting that the chance of an unsuccessful outcome stands at 25%.
