Georgia’s Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze on Monday praised the reopening of the renovated National Palace of Student and Youth in Tbilisi, saying the institution would continue to educate and inspire future generations.

Speaking at the opening ceremony, Kobakhidze said the historic building would remain a centre for art, science, and sport, helping to shape “many worthy individuals” in the years ahead.

He highlighted the project as part of Tbilisi City Hall’s wider programme to restore historic monuments, describing the renovation of the National Palace as an extension of this initiative.

“I am certain that the National Palace will raise many generations for our country. Here, they will learn the foundations of art and science, engage in sport, and many will go on to contribute to Georgia’s culture, science and sporting life,” the PM said.

Kobakhidze also thanked incumbent Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze, City Hall, architects, restorers, and builders for their role in completing the project, noting the “exceptional taste and quality” of the restoration.
