Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze has announced that the government’s constitutional complaint regarding opposition parties will be formally submitted by the end of the week. Speaking to the press on Tuesday, he said the process required several days due to the technical complexity and the number of alleged violations.
“There is a lot of work to do because so many rules have been broken. The drafting process takes time. The complaint will be published by the end of the week, and you will see which parties are included,” Kobakhidze said.
He emphasised that the Constitutional Court will make the final decision, reviewing all aspects of the case “comprehensively.”
“I cannot pre-empt the process before the complaint is published. Once it is submitted, the details will be clear, including which parties are involved. We are currently considering around ten parties, but this could exceed that,” he added.
Kobakhidze also cited Bacho Akhalaia, a former law enforcement official, as an example of someone closely linked to the United National Movement, despite not being a formal party member, noting that the complaint will clarify such affiliations.
“The Constitutional Court will evaluate all matters comprehensively. Everything else will be specified in the complaint,” he said.
