Georgia and Serbia are nearing the completion of negotiations on a free trade agreement, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said during a joint briefing with Serbian President Aleksandar Vučić in Tbilisi.
Kobakhidze said discussions focused on trade, economic and sectoral cooperation, highlighting what he described as significant untapped potential in bilateral relations.
According to the Georgian prime minister, only a small number of issues remain unresolved before both governments are ready to sign a free trade agreement.
He said the deal would create new opportunities for businesses, increase trade turnover between the two countries, attract investment and deepen economic ties.
Kobakhidze also stressed the importance of strengthening transport and logistics links, noting that Georgia plays a key role in the Middle Corridor connecting Europe and Asia.
The prime minister said the two sides discussed European integration as well, arguing that Georgia and Serbia share common objectives and challenges on their respective paths towards closer relations with the European Union.
He added that exchanging experience and maintaining close coordination in this area would be particularly important for both countries.
Kobakhidze thanked Serbia for its continued support for Georgia and said he was confident that President Vučić's visit would contribute to advancing bilateral relations and creating new opportunities for cooperation.
