Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated that everyone should respect the choice of the Georgian people, who elected the ruling party Georgian Dream during the parliamentary elections held in October. He made the remarks while speaking to Georgian journalists in Antalya.

When asked about the recent resolution adopted by the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), Kobakhidze dismissed it as insignificant.

“We once made the decision to suspend our participation in PACE due to the absolutely unfair approach reflected in a previous resolution. Everyone must respect the will of the Georgian people. Georgian Dream was elected by the people in October, during the parliamentary elections,” said the Prime Minister.

He also accused foreign actors of interfering in Georgia’s electoral process. “Despite foreign interference, the elections were held. Back then, the EU Ambassador made direct statements against Georgian Dream just days before the vote, which was blatant interference. Similarly, other European and American officials also meddled in the electoral process,” Kobakhidze claimed.

He emphasized that it was the Georgian public who ultimately triumphed. “It was not just us, but Georgian society as a whole that defeated all the forces trying to oppose our independence, freedom, and national interests. Therefore, everyone must come to terms with the fact that, despite external interference, common sense prevailed, the people’s firm will prevailed, and the country continues to move forward in the right direction. They must respect the choice of the Georgian people,” Kobakhidze concluded.
