Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze stated on Wednesday that the ruling party is committed to reclaiming the country by addressing legislative flaws and strengthening national interests.

“The parliamentary majority leader correctly stated that we must fully reclaim our country. There have been numerous flaws in our legislation—many of them imposed—and it is our responsibility to correct them. This is necessary for our society and for protecting our national interests. The country must be governed effectively, and the legislative package to be introduced in Parliament will ensure this,” Kobakhidze said.

Among the new initiatives, the government plans to introduce a law modeled after the American “FARA” (Foreign Agents Registration Act), as well as media regulations that define objectivity and ethical standards. According to Kobakhidze, these media laws will be based on the British model.

Additionally, the government is working on a series of other legislative measures, including proposals aimed at strengthening the fight against drug-related crimes and reforms in juvenile justice.
