Georgia is prepared to restore its strategic partnership with the United States, Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze said in an exclusive interview with Euronews.

Kobakhidze expressed optimism about the new US administration, particularly in light of recent statements regarding USAID. He noted that Georgia had raised concerns about these issues since 2021 and had introduced a transparency law requiring NGOs to submit annual financial reports to the Ministry of Justice.

“This legislation only required transparency, yet under the previous U.S. administration, the US Embassy warned that passing it would bring dark days for Georgia,” Kobakhidze said. He added that he is encouraged by the alignment between Georgia’s position and the new U.S. administration’s stance.

“The previous administration halted strategic partnership with Georgia. We have made it clear—Georgia is ready to restore this partnership,” the Prime Minister stated.
