Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, on Tuesday discussed “fruitful cooperation” between the countries, the Georgian Government Administration said.

The body added the discussion highlighted political partnership in bilateral and multilateral formats, the “positive dynamics” of cooperation in energy and the potential for deepening trade and economic ties.

Special attention was given to the importance of connectivity and the development of the Middle Corridor - a trade route linking Europe and China via the South Caucasus and Central Asia - emphasising Georgia’s key role in this direction. The sides also noted Turkmenistan’s efforts to promote peace in Central Asia and the importance of regional stability for economic development.

Kobakhidze expressed gratitude to Meredov for Turkmenistan’s firm support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and sovereignty, the Administration said.
