Georgia has joined a new European coalition against drugs, an initiative spearheaded by French President Emmanuel Macron.
Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze signed the declaration in Copenhagen during the 7th European Political Community summit on Thursday, co-chaired by Macron and Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
At the event, Kobakhidze highlighted his government’s “strict stance” on combating drug trafficking, noting that Georgian law enforcement had seized large quantities of narcotics in recent months and detained several dozen major dealers.
According to the government, the Prime Minister stressed the need for collective international action. He described the French initiative to create a European anti-drugs coalition as “an important step forward” in strengthening global cooperation against narcotics.
