Thirteen American service members have been killed and more than 360 injured during the first five weeks of the United States’ military campaign against Iran, according to official Pentagon figures.

As of 3 April, a total of 365 personnel had been wounded and 13 killed, the Pentagon said. The majority of those injured were from the Army, accounting for 247 casualties, followed by 63 from the Navy, 36 from the Air Force and 19 from the Marine Corps.

In recent days, US President Donald Trump has repeatedly said he expects the conflict to end within the next two to three weeks. He suggested this could happen even if Tehran refuses to agree to a deal.

In a recent address to the nation, Trump said the United States would carry out a “very powerful strike” within weeks, adding that it could “set Iran back to the Stone Age”.

Fighting between the sides continues. US and Israeli forces have reportedly destroyed Iran’s largest bridge linking Tehran and Karaj, while Iran says it has shot down two American military aircraft.

Earlier today, Iran reported a new strike near the Bushehr nuclear power plant. Iranian officials said a projectile struck near the facility’s perimeter, killing a security guard, but added that the main infrastructure of the plant was not damaged.
