Georgian citizens who were being held at a deportation facility in Israel have returned to Georgia, according to a statement released by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Georgia.
Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandre Khvtisiashvili was present at Tbilisi’s Shota Rustaveli International Airport to welcome the returning citizens.
The Ministry coordinated closely with Israeli authorities to ensure the safe and swift return of the Georgian nationals. In response to the situation, the Georgian Embassy in Israel continues to operate in emergency mode. A hotline remains active, and over 500 Georgian citizens have already received consultation and necessary assistance.
The Ministry also highlighted that Georgian citizens currently in Israel still have the option to leave the country by land, either through the Israel-Jordan or the Israel-Egypt (TABA) border crossings. Those choosing this route must carry a valid Georgian passport.
Amid recent developments, nearly 1,000 Georgian citizens have already exited Israel via land routes.
