The European Parliament has prepared a draft resolution addressing the situation in Georgia following its recent elections, with plans for adoption at the plenary session in Strasbourg in two weeks, MEP Rasa Juknevičienė stated.

Juknevičienė noted widespread concerns among European politicians regarding the integrity of the October 26 elections, criticizing the narrative propagated by pro-Russian factions and Kremlin-aligned actors, which she equated with the ruling party Georgian Dream’s stance.

“During this week’s special debates in the plenary session in Brussels, many speakers highlighted that the elections were fraudulent and called for new elections. We have drafted a resolution on Georgia and expect to adopt it in Strasbourg in two weeks,” Juknevičienė stated.
She emphasized that pro-Russian members and the Kremlin’s proxies are spreading Kremlin’s narratives about Georgia’s parliamentary elections, but European politicians collectively express grave concerns.

“Many claim that the elections were stolen, and at the very least, an international investigation is necessary. Currently, we cannot definitively say that the will of the people was expressed. At the very least, we do not know what the exact will of the people was, which is why protests are ongoing,” she added.
