Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze on Wednesday said a series of meetings planned for April could mark a new phase in relations between Georgia and the United States.

Speaking on Rustavi 2, Kaladze said the Government was ready to reset ties with Washington, emphasising the need for partnership rather than dependency.

“We do not need patrons; we need friends and partners,” he said, referring to a recent telephone conversation between Prime Minister Irakli Kobakhidze and US Secretary of State Marco Rubio.

Kaladze noted that April had been identified as a key period for holding various types of meetings, which he said could lead to “interesting developments” and positive news for the Georgian public.

He declined to provide further details, saying more information would become clear as events unfold, but expressed confidence that upcoming announcements would strengthen bilateral relations and future cooperation.
