Tbilisi Mayor Kakha Kaladze stated that US President Donald Trump's victory over the so-called "deep state" would have a positive impact on Georgia, asserting that no one would dare to make "disgraceful statements" like those made by Congressman Joe Wilson.

Kaladze expressed support for a new US administration under Trump, noting the when becoming a President, Trump pledged to dismantle oligarchic rule, defeat the "deep state," and end the Russia-Ukraine war. However, he claimed that neither goal has yet been achieved, and that the influence of the "deep state" persists globally, including in Georgia.

“As soon as Trump defeats the deep state, it will be felt in our country as well. No one will dare make the kind of disgraceful remarks that we hear from Congressman Wilson, who is known for his nonsense," he said, slamming Republican Congressman Joe Wilson, who often criticizes ruling Georgian Dream (GD) for it's policy and accuses it of carrying out Russia's interests in Georgia.

"These statements we hear are based on lies and do not help international relations," Tbilisi Mayor added.

He stressed that Georgia values friendship and cooperation with the US, but added, “It must be mutual. We are an independent country, not someone’s backyard. Our sovereignty must be respected and strengthened.”
