Tbilisi mayor and ruling Georgian Dream party Secretary General, Kakha Kaladze, has described President Mikheil Kavelashvili’s planned visit to the United States for the UN General Assembly as “very important” for Georgia.
Responding to questions from journalists on Monday, Kaladze said the 80th session of the Assembly offered a global platform that “must be used” to present Georgia’s position to the world.
“This is a very important platform that absolutely must be used, and the whole world should hear the truth and reality,” Kaladze said.
He added that Kavelashvili’s address would focus on Georgia’s current situation and include a message of readiness to “start relations with the United States from a new page.”
Kaladze further noted that Georgia had repeatedly stressed the importance of strong bilateral ties with Washington, calling them “very important” for the country’s future.
