A Russian airstrike on Ukraine’s capital overnight has killed six people, including a six-year-old boy, and injured more than 50 others, local authorities confirmed.

Serhiy Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s city military administration, confirmed the fatalities and said rescue operations are still underway.

“Emergency crews are continuing search and rescue efforts,” he stated. “Among the dead is a six-year-old child.”

The attack, which occurred in the early hours of Thursday, was described as a “combined assault” by Russian forces. At least four of the deaths were reported in Kyiv’s Sviatoshynskyi district and two in the Solomianskyi district.

The bombardment caused significant damage to residential buildings, schools, and kindergartens across the capital, Ukrainian officials added.
