A new educational and innovation space, UniverCity, has been opened by Kutaisi International University in the central boulevard of the western Georgian city of Kutaisi.
The project aims to promote Kutaisi as a leading university city, in line with the Georgian Government’s broader education reform agenda, the University said in a statement.
Located in the city’s central square, the UniverCity space will provide educational institutions with a platform to host projects, invite guest speakers and organise public discussions involving school pupils and university students.
Kutaisi International University said the innovative hub will showcase its European-standard academic and research programmes, as well as developments at its modern university campus, described as unique in the region. The initiative is also intended to reinforce Kutaisi’s historical role and strengthen its creative and educational identity.
The opening ceremony featured presentations of student-led innovative projects and educational programmes, as well as an exhibition of works by students from the university’s School of Design.
Acting Rector Vakhtang Tsagareli and Head of Administration Levan Kopaliani also presented the results of the student video competition “KIU in Your Lens” and awarded the winners.
The project was developed through cooperation between Kutaisi International University and Kutaisi City Hall.
