The issue of the ban of the UPC Moscow Patriarchate in Ukraine has been discussed for a long time within our political factions and groups. We agreed that during the war we do not have the right to adopt any law that divides Ukrainian society,” Rada Speaker Ruslan Stefanchuk stated today.

He stated that any law that was introduced to the Verkhovna Rada and divided society, gave a push to the appearance or activation of internal collaborators in the country.

“This can’t be allowed because the Ukrainian nation must be one. We will deal with everyone after the win,” Stefanchuk said.

The Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the Moscow Patriarchate is one of the “self-governing” churches under the jurisdiction of the Moscow Patriarchate,

It is one of the two major Eastern Orthodox ecclesiastical bodies in modern Ukraine, alongside the Orthodox Church of Ukraine.
