Up to 15,000 alleged war crimes have been reported in Ukraine since the beginning of Russian invasion back on February 24, 2022, Ukraine’s Prosecutor General Iryna Venediktova told reporters in The Hague on Tuesday.
She said that about 600 suspects have been identified and criminal proceedings have been launched against 80 individuals.
“The list of suspects includes high-ranking Russian military officials, politicians and propaganda activists,” Venediktova said.
She suggested that out of 15,000 alleged war crimes, several thousand have been reported in the Donbas region.
According to the Prosecutor General, the alleged war crimes included the possible forcible transfer of people to different parts of Russia, torture, killing of civilians and destruction of civilian infrastructure.
The International Criminal Court has sent a large group of investigators to Ukraine. Their goal was to assist the country in the investigation process.
