Shota Tutberidze, the lawyer of the third President of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, claims that the imprisoned third president had to suspend a meeting with him in Rustavi Prison No.12 today as he “felt very bad.”

He says that Saakashvili looked “worse than a couple of days ago.”

The United National Movement  (UNM) opposition party and Saakashvili’s family say that the former president is “on the verge of death,” demanding his transportation abroad for treatment.

The Georgian Justice Ministry, however, says that all services are ensured for the former president in prison and that the latter refuses to receive several of the services.

The ruling Georgian Dream (GD) party MPs say that Saakashvili “just has depression.”

Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili stated last month that “everyone who is demanding Saakashvili’s transfer abroad, wishes to drag the country into the Russia-Ukraine war.”

He said that Saakashvili returned to Georgia after eight years in political exile last year to come to power and then get Georgia involved in Russia’s war in Ukraine, the allegations which have been dismissed by Saakashvili.
