Shota Tutberidze, a lawyer of the imprisoned third president of Georgia Mikheil Saakashvili, says that the latter is unable to move and has seriously lost his weight, requesting a group of doctors to visit the former president in the Vivamedi clinic of Tbilisi.

“In my opinion, Saakashvili’s health condition has deteriorated. As he told me he was completely in bed. I do not know the medical indications and the results of the checks,” Tutberidze said.

Saakashvili was transported to the clinic from Rustavi Prison No. 12 earlier this month.

The third president was arrested in Tbilisi on October 1, 2021 after eight years in political exile.

He claimed he returned to help the opposition remove the Georgian Dream authorities from power “via elections.” However, the Georgian Dream government members said that Saakashvili planned a coup.

Currently he is serving his term for abuse of power which he was convicted in absentia back in 2018.
