Ruling party MP backs court case against Bachiashvili’s parents

Levan Machavariani, First Deputy Chairman of the ruling Georgian Dream faction, has defended the prosecution of the parents of convicted former co-investment fund head Giorgi Bachiashvili, saying the court’s verdict against their son was based on “the highest standard of evidence.”

He stressed that allegations of money laundering by Bachiashvili’s parents were under investigation and that claims linking the conviction to connections with ruling party founder and honorary chair Bidzina Ivanishvili were unfounded.
