The absolute majority of the fund's employees confirm that they did everything for proper management and there was no negligence on the part of Giorgi, or any of them, said Levan Makharashvili, the lawyer of Giorgi Bachiashvili, the former head of the Co-Investment Fund.

The lawyer claimed on Tuesday decisions were made on all issues as a result of a joint conclusion.

"As for the testimonies of witnesses, the witnesses are mainly employees of the fund, the absolute majority of whom confirm that they did everything for the correct management and, accordingly, there was no negligence on the part of not only Giorgi, but also none of them.

The director was not the sole decision-maker on important issues, but there was an executive board, which included the heads of each direction - in the construction, financial, legal aspects, who made appropriate conclusions within the framework of their competence and only after that a final decision was made jointly and collegially," said Makharashvili.

The case of Bachiashvili, over the Mtkvari HPP case, was referred to the court for consideration on the merits.

Bachiashvili has been charged under Part 2 of Article 220/1 in the Mtkvari HPP case, which implies failure to perform or improper performance of official duties by a person with special authority, which resulted in serious consequences. The charge provides for imprisonment for 2 to 5 years as a form and measure of punishment.
