Levan Makhashvili, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament's Committee on European Integration, has accused opposition parties of deceiving their voters by 'quietly preparing' for upcoming local self-government elections while publicly denying their involvement.

"These are not just empty words—they are actively working on concrete tasks and strengthening their regional presence. All signs point to election readiness," Makhashvili stated. "They’re just not saying it out loud because acknowledging participation would contradict everything they’ve claimed so far and expose their dishonesty to voters."

He added that the opposition seems to hope their participation will come as a surprise to the public or the government, calling such tactics “laughable and childish.”

“It would be better if they were honest and openly declared their intent to take part in the elections—as any proper democratic political party should,” Makhashvili concluded.
