Abkhazian Gov’t head meets Chinese Ambassador to Georgia

Chairman of the Government of the Autonomous Republic of Abkhazia, Levan Mgaloblishvili, met with Zhou Qian, China’s Ambassador to Georgia, for an introductory meeting.
As part of the visit, Mgaloblishvili showcased artworks by displaced Abkhazian artists and provided the ambassador with a tour of the Sukhumi State Drama Theatre.
During the official discussions, Mgaloblishvili thanked China for its support of Georgia’s territorial integrity and briefed the ambassador on the government’s activities. He also highlighted the challenges faced by local communities in occupied Abkhazia.
Both sides reaffirmed their commitment to supporting each other’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, emphasizing mutual respect and cooperation.
The meeting also covered future collaboration in healthcare, education, economy, and culture, strengthening ties between Georgia and China within the framework of their strategic partnership.
Notably, this was the first-ever meeting between the Chairman of the Abkhazian Government-in-Exile and a Chinese Ambassador since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Georgia and China.
The meeting was attended by Chinese Embassy Attaché He Peniu, First Secretary Wang Dan, and Chief of Staff of the Abkhazian Government, David Morgoshia.
