Levan Sanikidze, one of the leaders of the opposition United National Movement, on Saturday said the Georgian Government led by Bidzina Ivanishvili had “no chance” to reset relations with the United States due to its “anti-American rhetoric and steps toward authoritarianism”.
Sanikidze said the opposition delegation held an “important meeting” at the White House with representatives of the US National Security Council, where discussions centered on the political developments in Georgia.
“A government that constantly takes steps toward authoritarianism and engages in anti-American rhetoric - rhetoric that contradicts the interests of the majority of the Georgian people - cannot be a partner for the administration of the 47th President of the United States, nor for the Senate or Congress. This relationship is critically important for the Georgian people,” Sanikidze said.
