The leader of Freedom Square, Levan Tsutskiridze, has called for renewed efforts to rebuild trust between the public and politicians, describing it as a key priority for the country.
Tsutskiridze said much of Georgian society shared a desire for change, arguing that a large majority of citizens believed the country was facing serious difficulties and needed a way forward.
“Everyone wants change. The overwhelming majority of the population thinks the country is stuck and needs to find a way out,” he said, adding that few people would claim they are living without problems.
He also pointed to continued emigration as a sign of underlying challenges, saying that record numbers of people leaving the country each year reflected public sentiment regardless of media influence.
Tsutskiridze further noted the central task was to rebuild what he described as “bridges of trust” between society and the political class. He said these connections were, in some cases, weakened or entirely broken due to what he called objective factors.
Restoring and strengthening these links, he added, was now one of the most important issues facing Georgia.
