Levan Zhorzholiani, Head of the Georgian Government Administration, on Friday said economic and political cooperation among South Caucasus countries is “very important” for ensuring prosperity, economic strength and long-term peace and stability in the region.

Speaking during a panel discussion at the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, Zhorzholiani said Georgia’s priority remains economic development, emphasising that peace and economic progress are closely interconnected.

He noted that Georgia has recorded the highest economic growth rates in Europe over the past four years, with average growth reaching 9.3 per cent, while the economy expanded by 8.4 per cent in January-February this year.

Zhorzholiani added the country’s strong economic performance is based on a business-friendly environment, improved infrastructure and active efforts to attract foreign direct investment.

“The state is doing everything to support and attract direct foreign investment, strengthen infrastructure and improve connectivity,” he said.

He also highlighted Georgia’s geographic position as one of the country’s main advantages and pointed to major infrastructure projects such as the Anaklia deep sea port and the Black Sea submarine cable as key to boosting regional integration.
