Slovakia remains a strong supporter of Georgia’s European integration, said Nikoloz Samkharadze, Chairman of the Georgian Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, speaking to Georgian journalists in Switzerland.

“We had a heartfelt meeting with the Speaker of the Slovak Parliament, where we exchanged views on domestic political developments in both countries. We also discussed Slovakia’s continued support for Georgia’s EU integration,” Samkharadze stated.

He expressed concern that some EU member states misinterpret the political situation in Georgia due to certain political sympathies, which negatively impacts Georgia’s path toward Europe.

“Despite these challenges, Slovakia stands by us. Our partnership remains strong and will continue to deepen,” he added.

Samkharadze is part of the Georgian delegation attending the World Conference of Speakers of Parliament (IPU) in Geneva, where Parliament Speaker Shalva Papuashvili is also participating and scheduled to address the general debate.
