Georgia’s participation as the guest of honour at the China International Import Expo in Shanghai is of great importance, Foreign Minister Maka Botchorishvili said on Wednesday, noting that special attention was being given to Georgia and its products at the large-scale event.
Speaking to journalists in Shanghai, Botchorishvili highlighted that the significance stems from the size and potential of the Chinese market, as well as from the opportunities it presents for strengthening trade and economic cooperation.
“A special emphasis is placed on Georgia and Georgian products, which is particularly noteworthy considering the scale and importance of the Chinese market. This visit was also valuable in terms of bilateral relations, we held very interesting discussions on strengthening trade and economic cooperation and on how to better use the existing potential between the two countries,” she said.
The Minister also underscored the importance of China-Georgia cooperation within the Middle Corridor - a trade route linking Europe and China via the South Caucasus and Central Asia - noting that the transit of Chinese cargo through Georgia to European markets was among the topics discussed during the visit.
