Mamuka Mdinaradze, the executive secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, on Thursday accused critics of orchestrating a “bullying campaign” against members of Georgia’s national football team.

In a social media post, he condemned what he described as an attack on the country’s athletes, calling it a “clear manifestation of statelessness.”

Mdinaradze alleged the same groups responsible for recent controversies targeting Mariam Shengelia, representing Georgia at Eurovision, whom he described as “talented, beautiful, and immensely patriotic,” have now turned their focus to the football team.

He did not specify the nature of the alleged bullying or who was behind it but referred to the critics as “pseudo-liberal fascists” attempting to regain public attention.

“These forces, exposed by recent global events, are now seeking ‘moral rehabilitation’ through other topics,” Mdinaradze wrote, accusing them of using divisive tactics. He called for national unity and extended his support to all Georgian representatives abroad, reaffirming his backing for the national football team.

Mdinaradze concluded his post by expressing his support for the national team, urging them to “win today as well.”
