Georgia has never experienced such economic growth, progress in fighting corruption, or development across key sectors like human rights, poverty reduction, infrastructure, sports, and European integration, said Mamuka Mdinaradze, Executive Secretary of the ruling Georgian Dream party, in a social media post ahead of Independence Day.
According to Mdinaradze, the country is more independent today than ever before in its history.
“The history of our homeland is a history of the fight for independence — it is part of the Georgian genetic code. Homeland, language, and faith — a triad that has become the slogan of our nation,” Mdinaradze wrote. “We can proudly say that Georgia has never had such a strong economy, such success in the fight against corruption, or such progress in human rights, poverty reduction, infrastructure, sports, Euro-Atlantic integration, and many other areas.”
However, he emphasized that the most important achievement is the progress in independence itself:
“Georgia has never been as independent as it is today. That is what our opponents are attacking, what irritates them, because it leaves no room for them to use our country for their own goals. But Georgia will never again be subdued. Decisions about our homeland and our people will be made only in Georgia.”
Mdinaradze also criticized what he called external “immoral interference and blackmail,” declaring that nothing can undermine Georgia’s path.
“The Georgian genetic code ensures that we will always fight to further strengthen our independence. May 26 is our day. I am proud to be Georgian. I am proud of Georgia’s independence,” he concluded.
