Georgian Dream's Executive Secretary and parliamentary majority leader, Mamuka Mdinaradze, has accused opposition forces of launching a coordinated and politically motivated campaign surrounding the alleged suicide attempt of former Adjara government head, Tornike Rizhvadze.

Speaking on Imedi LIVE, Mdinaradze pointed out that while the incident happened over ten days ago, the public campaign only began recently—a delay he says signals intentional orchestration.

“The unfortunate incident involving Tornike Rizhvadze took place quite some time ago—more than ten days—but the campaign began just three days ago. What does that tell us? It’s clearly ordered. These things don’t happen without PR coordination,” Mdinaradze stated.
“You have people from the United National Movement and so-called journalists launching synchronized Facebook attacks. That’s no coincidence.”

He dismissed speculation that Rizhvadze had been pressured by the ruling party, saying the accusations are baseless and offensive.

“Some say Rizhvadze was my closest friend—he wasn’t, but he was certainly no stranger...He worked day and night for years to serve his region and our political team. That should not be erased or downplayed. He deserves sincere thanks for that effort," he said.

Mdinaradze also rejected any connection between himself and the private setting where the alleged incident occurred.

“I’ve never even been to the house where this reportedly happened. I don’t know the host personally—I’ve only met his brother a few times. I have no personal ties to that environment,” he said.

“And I can say with full certainty: there was no threat, no pressure, no harsh conversation with Tornike from anyone in the team. That narrative is simply false.”

Concluding his remarks, Mdinaradze criticized opposition groups for using a sensitive personal matter for political leverage.

“This isn’t about concern for someone’s well-being. It’s about trying to exploit a personal tragedy for political gain. And that’s both dishonest and dangerous,” he said.
