One dead, one critically injured in shooting at gold exchange in Marneuli

One person has been killed and another seriously injured following a shooting at a gold exchange in the town of Marneuli, according to local reports on Monday.

The victim died from gunshot wounds sustained during the incident. His father was also wounded and is currently receiving treatment in hospital, where his condition is described as serious.

Witnesses reported a tense situation at Marneuli hospital following the incident.

Georgia’s Ministry of Internal Affairs said an investigation has been launched under Article 19-109 of the Criminal Code, which relates to attempted intentional murder. No further details have been released at this stage.
