US President Donald Trump has reaffirmed his support for Ukraine during a meeting with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz at the White House. The American leader stated that while he remains committed to backing Ukraine, his main priority is to end the ongoing violence.

When asked by journalists whether he would continue to support Ukraine, Trump responded, “Yeah, I’m with Ukraine. We just signed a big deal on rare earth with Ukraine, and… You know what I’m for, stopping killing, really, that’s what I’m for again.”

Trump also emphasized that Russia’s war against Ukraine should never have started. He reiterated that the United States has already spent around $350 billion in aid, while Europe has contributed over $100 billion. However, he noted that financial support is not the core issue.

“It’s a little bit money, but not the money. The big thing, the big thing is the death,” Trump said.

He went on to highlight the devastating human and cultural toll of the conflict: “You’ve lost the whole culture. Ukraine had the most beautiful turrets, the most beautiful in the world. They’re all now lying on their side, blown to smithereens. They have taken away the culture of a country, the heritage of a country. But most importantly is the death: over 5,000 people a week,” Trump said.
