The UK has imposed sanctions on hundreds of Russian individuals and companies on Tuesday, which included those close to Russian President Vladimir Putin, such as former president and prime minister Dmitry Medvedev and Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu.
Russian businessmen, oligarchs Mikhail Fridman and Petr Aven were also put under sanctions.
Britain earlier said it would ban the export of luxury goods to Russia and impose a new 35% tariff on 900 million pounds ($1.2 billion) worth of Russian imports, including vodka, metals, fertilisers and other commodities.
Russia invaded Ukraine on February 24.
Since then dozens of foreign states have imposed sanctions on Russia and its citizens.
