MEP Viola Von Cramon has shared a Front News story on her official Twitter page, in which the Georgian PM Irakli Garibashvili criticized MEPs for their comments following the Georgian government’s ‘refusal’ on the EU loan, writing ‘very tempting career perspective’ and that ‘I love Georgia.’

<blockquote class=”twitter-tweet”><p lang=”en” dir=”ltr”>Very tempting career perspective 😉 <a href=”https://twitter.com/hashtag/ILOVEGEORGIA?src=hash&amp;ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>#ILOVEGEORGIA</a> <a href=”https://t.co/T6mIxJSlV9″>https://t.co/T6mIxJSlV9</a></p>&mdash; Viola von Cramon (@ViolavonCramon) <a href=”https://twitter.com/ViolavonCramon/status/1433001445138341889?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw”>September 1, 2021</a></blockquote> <script async src=”https://platform.twitter.com/widgets.js” charset=”utf-8″></script>

Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili stated earlier today that MEPs who have criticized the Georgian government ‘for not fulfilling preconditions’ to receive the second portion of the EU’s 150 million euro loan, ‘are not well aware of the situation in Georgia and are making superficial statements.’

Garibashvili also stated that the ‘Georgian people and not MEPs are my chief.’

The Georgian government has refused to take the remaining 75 million euro loan from the EU, citing the ‘growing economy’ and the wish not to add a foreign debt as the reason.

MEP Viola Von Cramon has responded that Georgia would not have received the loan anyway because the country’s government has failed to meet the criteria related to the court system.

“Unfortunately the Georgian government didn’t fulfill conditions listed for the second tranche (€75mill): judicial reform, etc. You can’t decline what you were not eligible for. We stand with the people of Georgia,” Cramon tweeted.

Earlier Cramon criticized the ruling Georgian Dream party for the withdrawal from the April 2021 EU-mediated agreement.
