MEP Viola Von Cramon has responded to the initiative of Georgian president Salome Zurabishvili to meditate for peace between Georgian political parties to decrease polarization in the country.

“International friends of Georgia can’t agree more with President Zurabishvili. More coming soon,” Cramon has tweeted.

Zurabishvili invited the members of various political parties yesterday at a New Year reception which was seen as a step taken forward to the implementation of the initiative.

The opposition is eager for the ‘national reconciliation,’ while the ruling Georgian Dream party says that the United National Movement opposition and former president Mikheil Saakashvili ‘must admit to crimes committed while in office and then leave politics first, and only after we may discuss the idea.’
