Archbishop Zenon of Dmanisi and Agarak-Tashiri has made a public appeal on social media, urging authorities to immediately stop acts of torture and uphold human rights.

“Based on numerous reports, there are instances of cruel and inhumane treatment against our compatriots, confirmed by multiple victims. Articles 8, 9, and 10 of the Georgian Constitution, along with the constitutional agreement between the state and the church, oblige both institutions to adhere to and protect internationally recognized principles of human rights, rooted in Christian teachings,” wrote the Archbishop.

He emphasized Georgia’s commitment to international conventions against torture, calling on relevant authorities to act decisively. “We are obligated to raise our voices against this evil,” he declared.
