The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday announced that the Migration Department had detained 30 foreign nationals as part of an operation targeting illegal migration.

The Ministry said the Department officers conducted a special immigration control action based on previously obtained intelligence. The operation focused on checking specific locations to identify foreign citizens residing in Georgia without legal grounds.

The detained individuals include nationals of India, China, Nigeria, Turkey, Pakistan, Cameroon, Sudan, Nepal, Kenya and Sri Lanka. Authorities said the individuals were found to be in violation of Law of Georgia on the Legal Status of Aliens and Stateless Persons.

All 30 detainees are currently being held at the Department’s Temporary Accommodation Centre, where procedures are underway to expel them from the country.
