Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili has congratulated students, teachers and parents on the start of the new academic year, describing the day as “filled with joy and hopes for new opportunities”.

In a message posted on social media on Monday, Kavelashvili extended special congratulations to first-graders who entered school for the first time, saying they were beginning “a new, exciting, unforgettable and discovery-filled stage” of their lives.

The official stressed the “vital role” of teachers in this journey, calling them “people who are ready to share their knowledge and help shape you into dignified citizens”.

Kavelashvili further described teachers as “distinguished protectors of our national and traditional values - values on which our future must be built”, and said that students and young people were “the country’s future and its greatest treasure”.

He wished all students and teachers success in the new school year.
