Georgian President Mikheil Kavelashvili on Wednesday met with Slovak President Peter Pellegrini in New York on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly.

The two leaders discussed the main areas of cooperation between Georgia and Slovakia, as well as prospects for further deepening bilateral relations.

“The meeting highlighted that Georgia-Slovakia cooperation was based on traditional ties between the peoples, shared values, and mutual respect for each other’s national interests - elements that provide a solid foundation for the continued development of relations”, the President’s press office said.

Special emphasis was placed on strengthening economic ties and advancing sectoral cooperation.

Kavelashvili thanked Pellegrini for Slovakia’s support of Georgia’s sovereignty and territorial integrity.
