Front News and several other Georgian media outlets, including TV channels Formula, TV Pirveli, and Mtavari Arkhi, as well as parts of the online media, temporarily halted their operations in solidarity with Mzia Amaglobeli, the founder of media outlet Netgazeti and Batumelebi, who has been sentenced to imprisonment by the Batumi City Court.

The media strike, lasting until 8:00 PM, aims to highlight the consequences of a Georgia without critical journalism.

“This is what Georgia would look like without critical media. Freedom for Mzia Amaglobeli and all political prisoners of the regime. We are on strike!” the outlets stated in a joint declaration.

Front News stands in solidarity with Amaglobeli and believes that her imprisonment represents an attack on press freedom and democracy in Georgia.
