One detained on drug-related charges in eastern Georgia

The Ministry of Internal Affairs on Saturday reported officers of its Central Criminal Police Department had detained one on charges of illegally cultivating a large quantity of cannabis plants.
The detainee has a prior criminal record, the body added.
The Ministry said during a search of the suspect’s residence in the eastern Sagarejo municipality, police seized 33 cannabis plants from specially equipped “grow boxes.”
The offense carries a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.
